Why own an original work of art?
The benefits of living with a piece of art work made by hane are not apparent at first glance. The emotions that initially draw us to art works are perhaps affection for the colors, patterns, subject, or gracefulness of execution but over time other things emerge. There is an open unlimited equation that we plug into when we choose to interact with art that deepens our appreciation of the work. The equation is that of the artist's vision pls the viewer's life experiences and the actual subject portrayed. Some of us at New York Few would maintain that every time a human being ses marks upon a surface, the possibilit of this magical equation emotional communication exists.
Much has been written about the special way that artists see things. That is a result of the intensity with which artists Look at things. We maintain that the sharing of the intensity with which artists LOOK at things. We maintain that the sharing of our sensitivity to strong beautiful and unusul hand made work can have a positive effect on how everyone views the world and themselves. We stand for the original against the plastic copy and for immediacy in sensual experience. Drawings of the human figure supply us with an endless site of meditation on waht it means to be human. In a small area in 2 dimensions we cn experience fantasy, beauty, sadness and possibility for as long as we choose and no electricity or extra attachements are required. All that is needed is a pair of open eyes and some heart.
